Experiments in rice: inference, independence, and indifference

An IRRI Seminar

By Gaétan Moreau
Associate professor
Department of Biology, Université de Moncton, Canada

 1:15-2:15 P.M.,  26 September 2013
Havener Auditorium, IRRI

Abstract
Although the rules of experimental design were originally developed from the agricultural sciences, these days many studies in agriculture depart from the basic concepts of experimental design and pay no attention to recent developments in the field.

In this seminar, Gaétan will review common experimental and statistical errors that can occur in the design and analysis of experiments and present common examples taken from rice literature. He will also examine key factors that may explain these experimental errors, discuss the implications of these errors on the interpretation of research, and suggest methodological approaches that can be used to avoid these errors.
